Call for papers in "CFTR trafficking and signaling in respiratory epithelium"

ARTICLE

IN THE COMING MONTHS, the American Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology will try something new that we think will add to the Journal's vitality and its committment to publishing leading-edge science. In addition to publishing the best work in lung biology, we will solicit articles in specifically defined thematic areas. These articles will be published together under their own separate heading and will be "fast tracked" in their reviews and time required for publication. The first such solicitation will be in the area of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) trafficking and signaling in respiratory epithelium.

These papers may deal with role of signaling pathways regulating CFTR trafficking, their pharmacological manipulations, role of vesicular machinery in CFTR trafficking, peptide signal sequences regulating traffic of CFTR, and the role of PDZ domains in trafficking. Authors should address the physiological relevance of their findings. The submitted papers will receive an expedited review. The deadline date is October 1, 2000. The responding authors should indicate in the cover letter that the submitted manuscript is in response to this call for papers. Those papers that do not require extensive revision will be published in the special issue.

If you have any questions or currently have a submitted manuscript on this topic and would like it included in the special call for papers, please contact the Editor, Dr. Asrar B. Malik (Phone, 312-996-5673; Fax, 312-355-3111; E-mail: apslung{at}uic.edu), or Associate Editor, Dr. Bruce Pitt (Phone, 412-648-2056; Fax 412-648-1945; E-mail: bruce+{at}pitt.edu).
